What is City Code on Nuisance Animals?

Nuisance Condition - Noise

Under City Code 518.04 (c), no person shall keep or harbor any animal within city limits which creates unreasonable loud and disturbing noises of such character, intensity and duration as to disturb the peace of the community. An example animal is a rooster. 

Nuisance Condition - Running at Large

Under City Code 518.02, no owner of any animal, livestock, poultry, wild or exotic animal shall permit such animal to run at large. 

Nuisance Condition - Smell

Under City Code 518.04 (a-b), no person shall keep or harbor any animal within city limits as to create offensive odors or unsanitary conditions. 

Nuisance Condition - Livestock

Under City Code 518.02 (k), no person shall keep livestock within city limits. "Livestock" includes horses, ponies, stallions, colts, geldings, mares, sheep, rams, lambs, bulls, bullocks, steers, heifers, cows, calves, mules, jacks, jennets, burros, goats, kids, swine and any animals normally found in the wild state which are being kept for exhibition purposes or as private pets.
